Ajarn Tum, a consultant to DTGO and MQDC, leads the Urban Action Team with Khun Santi Sombatwichatorn, Senior Architect in Creating Shared Value Programs at DTGO. The team is master planning a multi-party project to restore Bangkok's neglected canal system.
"I was delighted to receive this award from AMCHAM, which recognizes MQDC's role in supporting the team and its work co-ordinating the restoration of Lad Prao canal," said Ajarn Tum.
"Through their master planning, the Urban Action team is helping achieve several goals along 22 km of canal, working with companies such as the CP Group and state bodies such as
Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) and the Community Organizations Development Organization (CODI). Together we are creating a new community for 7,000 households while widening and deepening the canal to counter flooding."
Ajarn Tum and Khun Santi developed their master planning at Lad Prao from 'Resurrected Canals', their project that won the prestigious LafargeHolcim award in 2014.
MQDC was also the runner-up for AMCHAM's 'Ambassador's Award for Excellence in Thai-US Partnership'. The company was represented in this category by the collaboration between RISC and the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health to assess the impact of built environments on well-being.
Recognizing its effective CSR activities over 5 straight years, MQDC was also presented with a 'Gold' AMCHAM's CSR Excellent (ACE) award. Read more about the AMCHAM award here: Click
